Kenneth Graydon Vinson, 76, passed away on November 3, 2022. Ken was born October 30, 1946, and grew up in Fort Valley, GA. He graduated from Peach County High School and earned a BA from Emory University, a Masters in History from UGA, and a Juris Doctor from UGA. He practiced law in Dallas, GA until he was appointed Superior Court Judge in 2007. He served the citizens of Paulding County until retirement in 2017. He was known to treat every lawyer, defendant, juror and witness who appeared before him with fairness, kindness and courtesy. He was appointed to the Board of Governors of the State Bar of GA.
He was a member of the Paulding County Historical Society, Paulding County Genealogical Society, Lions Club, Rotary Club, Gideons, Sons of Confederate Veterans, and Board of Directors for First National Bank of Dallas.
Ken was committed to the Lord and to his church, Dallas First United Methodist. He served as Lay Leader for 35 years. He taught Sunday School classes and Bible Studies, led men's ministry on local and district level, went on many mission trips, and was awarded the Harry Denman Award for Evangelism. He also served as a lay speaker in the North GA conference UMC. Ken served as Secretary of the Board of directors of Indian Springs Holiness Campground for 30 years and as cottage holder committee chairman.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Frank and Ann Frances Mitchell Vinson, his brother Mitch Vinson and sister Sis Vinson. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sharon; their four children: Ben Vinson (Ansley), Laurie Vaughn (Stephen), Daniel Vinson (Kayla), and Joseph Vinson (Kalie); brother, Frank B. Vinson (Ann); nine grandchildren (Ann Campbell and Graydon Vinson; Charity, Chloe, Sarah, Hosanna and Lydia Vaughn; and Noah and Audrey Vinson); several sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and cousins.
Visitation will be held Saturday November 5th from 5-8pm and starting at 2pm Sunday November 6th with a Memorial Service to follow at 3pm at Clark Funeral Home in Hiram. Burial of the ashes will be held in Fort Valley, GA at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Dallas First United Methodist Church, Indian Springs Holiness Campground, Center For Movement Challenges (where Ken did Boxing for Parkinson's), or Gateway to Victory Learning Center in Kenya.
