Alvin Sims

Alvin Sims, age 70, of Hiram, GA, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013. The son of the late, Willis Eugene Sims & the late, Mildred Barnwell Sims, he was born in Hiram, GA, November 11, 1942, and was preceded in death by his son, Patrick A. Sims. Mr. Sims served in the U. S. Army and was retired from the U. S. Postal Service after 32 years as a letter carrier. He was a City Councilman for 25 years in Hiram and a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of almost 48 years, Elsie E. Sims; brother, Larry Dean Sims of Sandy Springs, GA; and grandson, Antonio Jerrall Sims of Hiram, GA.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 17, 2013, at 1:00 PM, from Sweet Home Baptist Church, with Reverend Edward Lackey and Reverend Jeffery Wimbush officiating. Mr. Sims will lie-in-state at the church from 12:00 PM until the service time. Interment will be in Sweet Home Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
