Alvin Roy Stroup, age 78, of Dallas, GA (formerly of Marietta), passed away Monday, May 10, 2010. He was born in Marietta, GA, May 21, 1931, to the late, Roy Russell Stroup & Julia Stroup. Mr. Stroup was a builder for 30 years and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Marietta.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Stroup; sons & daughters-in-law, Monte & Debbie Stroup of Rockmart, GA and Terry & Angelia Stroup of Dallas, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Shelia & Greg Lawrence of High Springs, FL; brother & sister-in-law, Narvel & June Stroup of Marietta, GA; sisters & brothers-in-law, Ozell & Gene Tinsley of Marietta, GA and Dell & Tip Thrash of Acworth, GA; grandchildren, Jeff Stroup, Karrie Mills and Melissa & Sean Carmen; great-grandchildren, Cody Brasher and Kristen & Ben Roberts; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 14, 2010, at 3:00 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Carl George and Brother Thomas Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow in Beulahland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, May 13, 2010, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Georgia Kidney Foundation, 2951 Flowers Road, Suite 211, Atlanta, GA 30341.
