Ammie "Nanny" Hicks

April 7, 1931 — January 13, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ammie "Nanny" Hicks, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left us peacefully on January 13, 2025, at the age of 93. Ammie was born on April 7, 1931, and resided in Dallas, GA, where she created a warm and loving home for her family.

Ammie worked many years as a seamstress and then at Lockheed in Marietta before her retirement. Her commitment to nurturing others extended beyond her professional life; she cherished every moment spent with her family, instilling values of love, kindness, and hard work.

As a charter member of New Life Baptist Church in Dallas, GA, Ammie found a community that enriched her life and allowed her to give back to others. She was actively involved in her church and especially loved caring for the babies in the nursery. She always shared her passion for gardening, fishing, and solving jigsaw puzzles with those she loved. An avid Atlanta Braves fan, Ammie enjoyed cheering for her team. Her joyful spirit resonated with others while working the concessions for many years at Southeastern International Dragway, located in Dallas on Dragstrip Road.

Ammie is survived by her daughter, Dianne Bone (Douglas); her grandchildren, Michelle McAdams (Tony) and Chris Bone (Stephanie); her great-grandchildren, Austin McAdams (Haley), Eli McAdams; Allie Bone, Caden Bone, Kaitlin Bires (Jordon), Sydney Corley (Cody); and great-great-grandchildren Ella Bires and Livi Bires. Her legacy of love will live on through them. Those who preceded Ammie in death are her husband Herschel Hicks and parents Willard and Hattie Carroll.

A funeral service to celebrate Ammie's remarkable life will be held at her beloved church, New Life Baptist Church, on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation at Clark Funeral Home on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. After the service, Ammie will be laid to rest in Paulding Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers are Eli McAdams, Austin McAdams, Caden Bone, Jordon Bires, Cody Wills, and Brody Smith.

While we mourn the loss of our cherished Nanny, we are comforted by the rich tapestry of memories she leaves behind. Her gentle spirit and unwavering love will forever be etched in our hearts.
