Arthur Earl Plante, age 92, of Hiram, GA was born in Michigan and grew up in Kingsford. After high school he joined the Civilian Conservation Corp, afterwards, he joined the Navy and served aboard the USS Pegasus. He was then sent to Puerto Rico and stayed there until being shipped to the U.S. Naval Air Station in Atlanta, GA, and later went to Memphis to be discharged.
Mr. Plante was preceded in death by his mother and father, Clare and Arthur Plante, his wife, Mary Helen Phillips and sisters, Elaine and Doris, brothers, Don, Leo, Bill and Eugene. He is survived by his wife, Ollie Grace Plante; sons, Michael Plante (Daisy) and David Plante, step-sons; Samuel “Bo” Brooks, and Steven Randolph Brooks (June); granddaughters, Michele B. Ware, Brandie Brooks, and Sandy Allison (Chris); grandsons; Robert Erik Plante (Ashley), and Corey Plante; great-grandsons, Will Plante and Ryder Allison. Mr. Plante was devoted to His Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a long-time member and servant at Poplar Springs Baptist Church of Hiram, GA. He worked for Trust Company Bank for 25 plus years as building manager. He retired in 1985.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from the Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, GA with Rev. Tim Phillips officiating. The interment will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery in Atlanta, GA following the service. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 9, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
