Benjamin "Ben" Ridings, age 83, of Powder Springs, Georgia, passed away July 23, 2024. Ben was born on July 28, 1940 in Dawsonville, Georgia, the son of the late Ernest Lane Ridings and the late Edna "Edna Bell" Holcomb Ridings. Ben will be remembered for his dedication to over 20 years of service at Delta Airlines, where he excelled as a skilled mechanic. Ben's enthusiasm for adventure led him to explore the world, indulge in downhill snow skiing, fly fishing, and whitewater rafting, and indulge in the thrill of horseback riding.
Ben was a proud member of the Masonic community having received his 50-year apron and was currently a member of the Springville Lodge #153, Benjamin's passion for life extended beyond his professional achievements. He took on various hobbies, from raising sugar cane to making syrup, cutting and baling hay, exemplifying his love for the outdoors. As a devoted Georgia Tech fan, his sportsmanship reflected his enthusiasm for life's diverse experiences.
Ben also loved the Lord and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for over 50 years. He loved spending time with his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ben's memory will forever be cherished by his wife of 43 years, Barbara Gaddis Ridings; his children: Joe (Danita) Ridings, Chris (Rosa) Ridings, Renee (Dennis) Buchanan, Larry Cagle, Garry (Yazmin) Cagle and Mark (Kathy) Cagle; grandchildren: Dan Cagle, Seth (Chloe) Cagle, Courtney (Michael) Ridings, Tiffany Ridings, Taylor (Sarah) Ridings, and Mason (Taylor) Ridings; nine great grandchildren, numerous cousins, and his beloved Beagles, Marley and Major.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, Georgia on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 5:00-8:00 pm.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 11:00 am at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Lamar Rackley officiating. Ben will be placed in the church at 10:00 am.
Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Joe Ridings, Chris Ridings, Larry Cagle, Garry Cagle, Mark Cagle and Ray Murphy serving as Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital which was near and dear to Ben.
