Bessie Smith

Bessie Loudine Smith, age 80, of Dallas, GA, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012. She was born in Dallas, GA, March 8, 1932, and was preceded in death by her parents, Tommy & Willie Mae Tidwell; brother, Tommy E. Tidwell; and sister, Thelma Rakestraw. Mrs. Smith retired from the Paulding County School System, where she worked at Dallas Elementary School as a cook for thirty years. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Hershell Roberson Smith; son & daughter-in-law, Tim & Debbie Smith of Dallas, GA; daughters & son-in-law, Teresa & James Buford of Dallas, GA and Connie & Charles Fennell of Dallas, GA; brothers & sister-in-law, Forrest Tidwell of Jasper, GA and James & Betty Tidwell of Dallas, GA; sister, Melva Roper of Dallas, GA; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at 2:00 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Jimmy Elzey, Reverend Eddie Thackston and Reverend Joe Maxwell officiating. Interment will follow in Paulding Memorial Gardens, with Shad Smith, Patrick Wood, Rob Mitchell, Joey Hulsey, Jason Hulsey and Chris Parson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Luke Wood, C. J. Parson and Jarett Hulsey.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
