Betty Hughes

Betty Jean Hughes, age 84, of Hiram, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2012. She was born on April 14, 1927, in Tenino, Washington, to the late James and Elizabeth Coats, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Headley Wayne Hughes. Mrs. Hughes was self-employed and a member of New Georgia Baptist Church.

Survivors include, daughter and son-in-law, Barbara & Talmadge McBrayer of Hiram; sister, Iola Moss of Oregon; grandchildren, Karen & Gary Armstrong of Hiram, and Joshua & Kaley McBrayer of Smyrna; great-grandchildren, Sam Armstrong of Hiram and Harrison McBrayer of Smyrna; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 23, 2012, at 3 p.m., from New Georgia Baptist Church, with Dr. James Burdett officiating. Interment will follow in Paulding Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, January 22, 2012, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
