Betty Joyce (Joyner) Lester

Betty Joyce Joyner Lester, age 84, of Fort Valley, GA, formerly of Hiram, GA., passed away peacefully on Friday, January 29, 2021 after a long battle with heart Disease. She was born on March 27, 1936 in Roberta, GA, to her late parents, Alton Curtis, and Mattie Ruth Smith Joyner. Mrs. Lester taught elementary school for 30 years at Hiram Elementary School and previously attended Poplar Springs Baptist Church.  Betty was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend, and mentor to many who will dearly miss her. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband; Johnie George Lester, son; Stephen Curtis Lester, brother; JP Joyner, and niece; Robin Joyner.

She is survived by her son; Jon Lester; daughter; Ann (Dan) Blair, grandchildren; Mandy (Jeff) Williamson, Constance Blair, Justin Lester, Brayden Lester Fields, great-grandchildren; Lilly Williamson, Caden Williamson, Mason Williamson, sister; Fran Jones, sister-in-law, Delores Joyner and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Lester will be held at Clark Funeral Home on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Lamar Rackley officiating. Interment will follow at Paulding Memorial Gardens in Hiram, GA. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 1:00PM until 3:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in her honor to the American Heart Association.

If attending the visitation or service, the staff of Clark Funeral Home highly recommends that a face mask be worn, and that social distancing is practiced to help prevent the spreading of any possible illnesses and to help keep visitors, friends and family members of Mrs. Lester safe.  The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to everyone who may be unable to attend the service in person due to the states Covid-19 restrictions (no more than 50 people inside the funeral home at one time).
