BOB CREWS, 88, OF DOUGLASVILLE, LEAD SINGER OF THE HARMONEERS QUARTET, PASSED AWAY MONDAY, MARCH 19, 2007. HE WAS BORN IN SAND MOUNTAIN, AL, FEBRUARY 18, 1919, TO JOE & ETHEL CREWS. HIS SINGING CAREER BEGAN IN 1937, STARTING WITH THE HARMONEERS QUARTET IN KNOXVILLE, TN, LATER MOVING TO THE ATLANTA AREA. HE SERVED AS MUSIC DIRECTOR AT POPLAR SPRINGS BAPTIST CHURCH, HIRAM, GA FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND WAS A WORLD WAR II VETERAN.
HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS FIRST WIFE, LEIRA CREWS; SON, BOB CREWS, JR; THREE BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE OF THIRTY FOUR YEARS, NORMA; DAUGHTER, SHEILA WEST, GAINESVILLE, GA; SISTER, CLAUDIE BUTTRAM, OREGON; FIVE GRANDCHILDREN; TWELVE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN; NUMEROUS NIECES & NEPHEWS.
VISITATION WILL BE THURSDAY, MARCH 22, AT CLARK FUNERAL HOME, HIRAM, GA, FROM 4PM-8PM. SERVICES, FRIDAY, MARCH 23, 11:00AM, LITHIA SPRINGS FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, WITH REV. ALLEN WALDROP OFFICIATING. MICHAEL BEHUNIN, ALAN PRICE, ROBERT BENSON CREWS, III, PAUL AMERSON, CASEY WEST, MIKE FREEMAN AND MARK FREEMAN WILL SERVE AS PALLBEARERS. INTERMENT WILL FOLLOW IN PAULDING MEMORIAL GARDENS.
