Caleb James Deaton was born on March 31, 2009, and left this world on September 23, 2022. Caleb was a 13-year-old boy with many dreams, ambitions, and ideals. Caleb was a firecracker to all who knew him. He marched to the beat of his own drum and didn't care what anyone thought about it. Caleb was the first to shout down a bully for himself and his friends. He identified as gay and non-binary, and was very proud to be part of the LGBTQIA community. Caleb was a 7th-grade student at Scoggins Middle School in Dallas, GA. He had played clarinet, loved his art classes, and most of all his social life. Caleb was a passionate person who had a huge heart for the underdog, animals, and his family and friends. He was a wonderful Leopard Gecko dad to his two babies Lunar and Solar, and a great cat dad to his kitten Astra, and loved his chihuahuas, Chili and Fae, all of whom are with him now on the other side. Caleb was sassy, silly, and so bright. He always had a slick comment or joke to make everyone laugh, even in the darkest of times.
Caleb volunteered with the Georgia Herpetological Association and Rescue, and worked closely with his mother and brother in their own animal rescue Little Rose Farm Exotic Animal Rescue. It was his dream to have a large education center where he could teach children about reptiles and wildlife. In his time volunteering with GHAR he was blessed with the love of a young Raccoon named Shuggie, she would come running to him any time he was around. Shuggie would ride around on his shoulder and hold his face in her tiny hands to give him kisses and nibbles;and throw a fit when he went home. He loved volunteering and spending time with any animal. Caleb loved to travel and had seen many places in his life that were dear to him. He had plans to study abroad in college and tour Europe and beyond. He spent many hours playing Roblox, Animal Crossing, and Minecraft, as well as chatting with his friends on discord. He loved life, and he loved people and animals alike. Caleb loved spending time with his father and grandparents and especially loved going on trips to Tennessee and North Carolina for camping and other activities with his Dad. He spent many nights on the porch with his mom, step dads, friends, and family laughing, talking, and telling stories that made them laugh even more. He was a kind and sensitive soul, and a loyal and strong friend, son, and brother. Caleb had been a student in Douglas County Schools, Paulding County Schools, and in Floresville ISD in Floresville, Texas. He loved his teachers, friends, and administrators.
Caleb was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sara and Dennis Johnson Sr. He leaves behind his mother, Kati Wall; his father, Nicholas Deaton; stepfathers, John Lawrence and Jason Wall; grandparents, Mike and Peggy Deaton, Deanna and Aaron Staton, Joe and Mary Lawrence, Chris and Linda Gray; great-grandmother, Mary Robinson; godparents, Andrea Loveless and Logan Dumolt; dear family friends, Talisha Hopkins, Todd Walthour, Kamilah McElwee, Branden Crook; best friend, Haley Hardy; and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins and friends.
