Biography
Carlene Pope, age 79, of Rockmart, formerly of Powder Springs, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2008. She was born on April 13, 1929 in Woodville, AL to the late Wiley and Mollie Whitaker. She had worked as a librarian in Powder Springs and was a substitute teacher at several schools in Cobb County. She was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church in Rockmart. Preceding her in death were her husband, Charles Pope and her son, Eddie Pope.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael & Terri Pope of Marietta and Steve & Stacy Pope of Rockmart; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Tony Whittenburg of Rockmart; a sister, Vivian Kennamer of Lake Mary, FL; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from Clark Funeral Home in Hiram with Rev. Bobby Hunter and Rev. Calvin Brown officiating. The interment will follow in Powder Springs Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
