Charles Ernest Hart, 69, born on September 12, 1944, to the late, Joe Brown Hart & Mattie Wilbanks Hart, died on November 14, 2013. Charles spent his younger years and youth in the Cary Park area of Atlanta, graduating from West Fulton High School in 1963.
Following high school, Charles joined his father in working a family business, Hart’s Amoco Station in Mableton, Georgia, where he worked until his father’s retirement in 1978. As his father was retiring, he was given another opportunity in business, this time with his brother, in the retail industry. After much work and preparation, the two of them opened Jolly Wally’s Superette in Douglasville, Georgia in the summer of 1979. The business became known well outside of Douglasville, even as far as Macon and beyond. In 1986, Walter, Charles’ brother and partner, died but Charles went on to run the business with family off and on for several more years before retiring himself. Following his own retirement, he was able to travel with family to Europe, Canada and many places within the United States, to spend time with his grandchildren, perfect his affinity for bargain shopping, and even to work part time as a gate attendant at WellStar Cobb Hospital.
Charles is predeceased by his parents and his brother. He is survived by his wife, Kim Hart; children, Christy (Richard) Hart Letanosky and Joel (Nancy) Hart; step-children, Nicholas (Morgan) Brown, and Christina Maddox; as well as his grandchildren, Aiden, Zachary, Greyson and Malachi.
