Charles M. Keener, III, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and steadfast community member, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on October 28, 1939, in Atlanta, Georgia, Charles dedicated his life to serving others and fostering connections within his community, particularly as a fireman with the Cobb County Fire Department.

Charles, known for his unwavering commitment to public safety, left a lasting impact during his career, embodying the values of bravery and selflessness. Beyond his work as a fireman, he was a familiar face at Barnes Hardware in Mableton, where he shared his knowledge and passion for tools and home improvement with those around him. His talents also extended to working alongside Smokey Eunick in the NASCAR industry, where he helped build racing engines that captured the thrill of the sport.

Outside of his professional life, Charles was a devoted family man who treasured every moment spent with his loved ones. He was an enthusiastic supporter of youth sports, generously sharing his time and passion in coaching young athletes and instilling values of teamwork and dedication. In his leisure time, Charles relished fishing trips and cherished moments spent deer hunting, creating memories that will be remembered for generations.

Charles is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Keener; his son, Charles Keener; his brother, David Keener; and his cherished grandchildren: Brandon Jenkins, Austin Keener, Annalee Keener, and Luke Keener. This remarkable man will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A visitation will be held at Clark Funeral Home on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, allowing family and friends to gather in remembrance of Charles. Another visitation will take place on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm, leading into the funeral service at 2:00 pm at the Sam Clark Chapel. Following the service, Charles will be laid to rest with honors at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville, a fitting tribute to a man who served his country in the Army and dedicated his life to serving his community.

Charles M. Keener, III embodied the spirit of kindness, generosity, and unwavering service. His memory will continue to inspire us all.
