Danny Rakestraw, age 77, of Dallas, GA passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013. He was born on January 4, 1936 in Hiram, GA to the late Amos and Louise Elizabeth Rakestraw. He was a Division Manager at Lockheed, retiring after 30 years of service. Danny drove a school bus for Paulding County Schools for 50 years and served on the School Board. He was a Navy veteran, a Mason, a Shriner and a member of the First Baptist Church of Dallas. Preceding him in death was his wife of 32 years, Mary Ann Lee Rakestraw who passed away in 1987 and his brothers, Amos Jr., Ansel and Bennie.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Benson Rakestraw; a son and daughter-in-law, Dan & Sharon Rakestraw of Kennesaw; a daughter, Beth Black of Dallas; a step-daughter, Tandra Lewis and her husband, Wayne of Powder Springs, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tyre Rakestraw of Dallas, Bobby & Faye Rakestraw of Hiram and Mike & Carol Rakestraw of Hiram; grandchildren, Rebecca Black Taylor, Wayne Black, Brian Llewallyn, Kris Llewallyn, Bethany Lewis, Isaac Lewis, John Lewis, Levi Lewis and Anna Elizabeth Lewis; 6 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 5:00 p.m.,from Clark Funeral Home with Wayne Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the service time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the First Baptist Church of Dallas Building Fund, 401 Main St., Dallas, Georgia 30132.
