David Paul Hester, age 77, of Villa Rica (Paulding Co.), GA, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016. He was born on July 1, 1939, in Russellville, AL, to the late Thirlo & Mary Lee Hester. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Dale Scott. Mr. Hester retired as a Major with the Army after twenty three years of service and also worked for twenty two years as a Facility Manager with Oglethorpe Power Corporation. He was a member of Snellville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of thirty years, Carol Hester of Villa Rica (Paulding Co.), GA; daughter, Cynthia Hester of Phoenix, AZ; stepchildren, Brad & Carole Craft of Mt. Lebanon, PA, Matt & Lori Craft of Dallas, GA, Julie & Ken Brown of Roswell, GA; brother, Fred & Elsa Hester of Independence , KS; sister, Evelyn Scott of Russellville, AL; grandchildren, Jenna Ratteree, Daniel Craft, Ethan Craft, Adam Craft, Myles Craft, Laken Craft, Scott Miller, Trip Brown; several nieces & nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Hester will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016, at 11:00 AM, from the Clark Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Craft, Brad Craft, Daniel Craft, Adam Craft, Ethan Craft & Myles Craft.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 18, 2016, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA), in memory of Major David Paul Hester.
