Dennis O. Turner, age 64, of Douglasville, GA, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014. He was born in Detroit, MI, on April 20, 1950, and was preceded in death by his parents, O. L. “Bud” Turner & Dorothy Louise Zimmerman Turner and a brother, Michael Turner. Mr. Turner graduated from Towers High School in 1969, and was a self-employed construction and roofing contractor. He was an avid sportsman who loved hunting, fishing, gardening, farming, camping and deep sea fishing. Mr. Turner also loved gold mining, panning for gold, and making gold miner’s art. He was a member of The Refuge Church in Hiram.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Edwards Turner; son, Matthew O. Turner of Kentucky; daughters & son-in-law, Dennise Michelle Turner-Sumner & husband, Broderick of Villa Rica, GA, and Donna Turner-Long & husband, Christopher of Villa Rica, GA; brothers & sister-in-law, Daniel L. & Susan Turner of Conyers, GA and Richard B. Turner of Cumming, GA; sister, Cheryl Ann Turner Smith of Stone Mountain, GA; grandchildren, James Matthew McCormack, Broderick Leighton Sumner and Asher Jedidiah Sumner; grandmother, Matalyn Turner of Kentucky; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at 3:00 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Pastor Henry Swofford officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
