Donald a/k/a Don Hill Lester was born in Cartersville, Georgia, Bartow County, to Clifford Lester and Evelyn Hill Lester on July 23, 1945. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Walton Lester with 55 plus years of marriage. They are blessed with two sons, Derek Lester, wife Jill Hardin Lester and Rodney Lester, wife Melissa Waters Lester. Derek and Jill blessed them with one granddaughter, Kayla Lester Harden, husband, Nick Harden and one son, Ryan Lester. Rodney and Melissa have three sons, Jordan Lester, wife Carlee Waits Lester; Jacob Lester and Brody Lester. Don and Peggy also have one precious great grandson, Colton Knox Harden. Colton is expecting the arrival of his little sister, Charlie Jade Harden in September 2022.
Don has one surviving brother, Dennis Lester, wife Susan Cash Lester. He had a sister, Carla Lester Doss and husband John Doss who preceded him in death. Don has three brother-in-law, Steven Merrefield, wife Brenda Walton Merrefield, Barry Walton and Joe Walton, wife Cindy Frazier Walton. There are numerous cousins, nieces and nephews on both sides of their families.
Don was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord Jesus Christ. He loved his personal family along with his church family. He served West Ridge Church faithfully until his health failed him. He was a quiet man who loved staying in the shadows but had a true servant's heart. He was thankful God gave him and Peggy five and one-half more years together after his diagnosis of aggressive prostate cancer, December, 2016.
Don was a faithful employee of Lockheed Martin Aircraft Company in Marietta, Georgia, for 35 years before retiring in 2014.
Don loved sports, i.e., football, baseball, softball and especially his golf. He and Peggy loved to travel and cruise.
A Celebration Service will be held at West Ridge Church, 3522 Hiram Acworth Hwy., Dallas, Georgia 30157, on Saturday, June 18th, 2022. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. till 11:15 a.m. at which time the Celebration Service will begin in the worship center.
