Doyle Vaughn, age 83, of Dallas, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012. He was born on August 7, 1929, in Canton, GA, to the late Fletcher and Lillie Bell Vaughn, and was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Rollins. Mr. Vaughn was educated in Canton and moved to Atlanta in the mid 1940’s, and married his wife, Nell, in 1949. He served 1951 – 1960 in the United States Army where he was awarded Korean Service Medal, Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Vaughn retired from Sears & Roebuck with 30 years of service as a regional building and maintenance supervisor, current member of Board of Equalization of Paulding County, and an active member of First United Methodist Church of Dallas.
Survivors include wife of 63 years, Nell Vaughn of Dallas; son, Robin Vaughn of Dallas; daughters and sons-in-law, Terri & Dana Duncan of Acworth, and Sherri & Kenny Watson of Hiram; brother and sister-in-law, Loyd & Pat Vaughn of Austell; sister, Nancy Cate of Douglasville; grandchildren, Ashley & William Vaughn, Sarah & Isaac Duncan, Kody Watson, and Shauna & Brian Vaughan; great-grandchild, Landon Vaughan; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2012, at 3 p.m., from Clark Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Clyde McDonald and Pastor Mick McLaughlin officiating. Interment will follow in Paulding Memorial Gardens with Military Honors being performed. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, September 22, 2012, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
