Edna Smith

Our dear Edna Lou Smith, of Hiram, GA, passed away on April 19th, 2024, at the age of 88. She was born in Atlanta, GA, on August 7th, 1935, to the late Edward J and Fannie Lou Newton.

Edna graduated from Southwest High School in Atlanta, GA. She then began her career with Georgia Power where she worked in accounting and finance for over 25 years. In her spare time Edna enjoyed listening to Country Music and spending time outside especially fishing.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmy Lee Smith, and brothers, Charles Newton and JD Newton.

Edna is survived by her brothers, Carl Newton and his significant other Martha Rakestraw of Hiram, Georgia, Joe (Sue) Newton of Thomaston, Georgia; sister, Elizabeth Lewis of McDonough, Georgia; granddaughter, Zoe Smith; son, Randall Lee Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at Paulding Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, April 24th, 2024, at 2:00 pm with Reverend Don Rackley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shriners of Paulding County in Edna's honor. Donations may be dropped off at Clark Funeral Home or mailed to 198 Old Atlanta Rd, Hiram, GA 30141- Please make checks payable to the Paulding Shrine Club and reference Hospital Fund and Edna's name on the check. 

Edna's significant impact on those around her will forever be remembered, and her kindness and love for her family will be cherished by all who knew her. Let us gather to honor and celebrate her life as we say our final goodbyes.
