Edward Palmer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward E. Palmer, beloved husband, friend, and dedicated firefighter, who passed away Monday, February 17, 2025, at the age of 82. He was born July 29, 1942 in Dallas, GA, son of the late Emmett Palmer and the late Annie Cohran Palmer.

He was a member of New Hope First Baptist Church. Edward touched the lives of many during his over 25-year career as a firefighter with the Fulton County Fire Department.

Beyond his role as a firefighter, Edward had a passion for fishing and traveling. Edward's creative side was evident in his love for painting houses, where he brought color and life to homes throughout the community. He was a true jokester who loved to fellowship with people and make them laugh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Eddie Palmer and Tony Wigley; three sisters, Lucille Palmer Holmes, Doris "Dot" Bragg Washington and Ruth Palmer Clark; and four brothers, Irb Palmer, John Palmer, Bill Palmer and Joe Palmer.

Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Christine Frey Palmer, to whom he was married September 9, 1981; daughter, Leann Wigley; two sons, Jeff Palmer and Jeff Wigley (Renay); six grandchildren, Mona Palmer, Scott Palmer, Jesse Wigley-Pervel, Robert Wigley, Chad Wigley, and Brenton Wigley; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Clark Funeral Home on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. Memorial services to honor Edward's remarkable life will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Sam Clark Chapel with Pastor Jamie Hobbs and Pastor Durwood Perry officiating. Inurnment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery.

In this time of sorrow, let us remember Edward for his unwavering dedication, infectious humor, and the love he generously shared. He will be profoundly missed but will forever remain in our hearts.
