Elaine Alice (Sandeno) Stonemark

December 28, 1943 — November 18, 2022

Elaine Alice Stonemark passed away on November 18, 2022, peacefully at Tranquility Hospice.

She was 78 years of age, born on December 28, 1943, at her rural home in Gardner Illinois. Elaine attended Gardner South Wilmington High School and graduated in 1962. She was an active member of the United Lutheran Church in Gardner, Illinois. In her early childhood, she enjoyed and was active in the 4-H with sewing and cooking, and also played piano for Sunday school, school programs, and graduations. Before moving to Carbondale, Illinois, in September 1964, she was employed at APSA (Ammunition Procurement and Supply Agency), where she traveled for the federal government.

Elaine is survived by her three children, James Stonemark (Diane) of Dallas, Georgia, Susan Stutzman (Eric) of Dallas, Georgia, and Cathleen Stonemark of Dallas, Georgia. Besides her three children, Elaine is survived by two grandchildren, Drake Merrill Stutzman and Lanie Mae Stutzman, both of Dallas, Georgia, Elaine is also survived by nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces, and many relatives and friends.

Elaine was preceded in death by her mother and father, Joseph and May Sandeno, of Gardner Illinois, and her two sisters, Lois Vigna (Bernard), of Gardner, Illinois, and Delores Huston (William), of San Diego, California.

Elaine was an active mother of three children while residing in Carbondale, Illinois for 35 years. While raising her family, she owned and operated many businesses, always being the self-employed hard worker, she was. Elaine enjoyed keeping her children active in school projects, music, and sports, while still finding time to be the room mother and/or volunteering for all the PTA projects. Elaine was always drawing house plans for building whether it was their own personal home or for their business, both in Carbondale and the Dominican Republic. She enjoyed her bridge club immensely, loved all kinds of fishing, and was at her best when she was entertaining in her backyard full of friends and family.

Elaine moved to Bonita Springs, Florida in 1999 where she thought she would retire only to be drawn in by her love to work and thus became a realtor. After her first year as Realtor, Elaine received the prestigious Award at the Realtor’s Ball where she was presented with the “Rookie of the Year” Award.

Elaine moved to Dallas, Georgia, in 2008 to be closer to her 3 kids and most importantly her 2 grandchildren, Drake and Lanie. Elaine was very involved in her grandchildren’s lives and extremely enjoyed watching them compete in basketball and volleyball.

She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
