Emily Dee Gaines Worthy

Emily Dee Gaines Worthy, age 88, of Dallas, GA, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 27, 1932 in Memphis, TN, to her late parents, Henry and Julia Gaines. Mrs. Worthy worked Major Deputy Sheriff for the Paulding County Sheriffs Department, where she was the first mandated woman in Paulding County to hold that title. Emily was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Dallas for many years, which she loved her church family dearly. Mrs. Worthy was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed by many. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters; Addie Sue Suddeth, Martha Gene Whitington, and her brothers; Edward Henry Gaines, Stanley Dewitt Gaines,

Survivors include her loving children; Jerry Worthy of Dallas, GA, Karen Huff and her husband, David of Dallas, GA, Gayle Blalock and her husband, Wayne of Dallas, GA, Greg Worthy of Dallas, GA, Susan Powell and her husband, Bobby of Atlanta, GA, grandchildren; Chason (Jose) Garcia, Jerry “Jay” (Allison) Worthy III, Katherine Emily Sue McAlister (Talyor), Melody (Greg) Harper, Misty (Jeremy) Walker, Amy (Chad) Reeves, Matthew (Ashlee) Huff, Travis (Elise) Blalock, Katie (Adam) Mills, Clifton Blalock, Alisha Worthy, Martha (Justin) Alexander, Michael Worthy, James (Jamie Michelle) Dillard IV, Joshua (Amanda) Dillard, Zachary Powell, Julia Powell, 22 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Mrs. Worthy’s wishes, her body has been cremated and a memorial service for Mrs. Worthy will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Dallas with Rev. Don Rackley officiating. Mrs. Worthy’s ashes will be interred at Paulding Memorial Gardens Cemetery after the memorial service on Thursday, September 3, 2020. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
