Ernest Baker

Ernest Larry Baker, 84, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024. He was born on January 30, 1940, in Atlanta, GA, to the late Ernest J and Doris Baker.

Larry lived a simple life and deeply loved his family. He spent his working career as a Mailer for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution where he worked for 42 3/4 years before retiring. Outside of his family and career, Larry was a man of many passions. He had a deep appreciation for poultry, exotic and domestic, spending his days raising them and finding joy in their grace and beauty. A lover of nature and craftsmanship, Larry had a knack for wood carving and had a particular fondness for harvesting and curing gourds. He was also known for his interest in researching and acquiring guns, which some may have deemed a collection, but he saw simply as a hobby.

Throughout his life, Larry exemplified the values of kindness and generosity, always willing to lend a helping hand to others in need. His commitment to his family was unwavering, and he held a special place in the hearts of those who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his son, Roy Larry Baker, and siblings, Cecil Baker, Ralph Baker, Joe Baker, Virginia Breedlove, and Paul Baker, as well as his ex-wives Maggie Ruth Baker and Ruby F. Baker.

He is survived by his son, Bobby (Ellen) Baker, brother, Terry (Beverly) Baker, grandchildren, Emma Ruth and Cassie Lee, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 6:00 PM~8:00 PM. A Funeral Service to honor Larry's life will be held from the Sam Clark Chapel of Clark Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Matt Cason officiating. Immediately following the service, Larry will be laid to rest at Paulding Memorial Gardens.

Larry Baker will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his compassion, love for family, and willingness to assist others. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
