Eugene Barner "Shorty/Mac" McTaggart, age 82, of Powder Springs, GA, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. He was born on July 14, 1932, in Sweet Gum, GA, to the late James David McTaggart and Willie Villard Waldrop, and was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Wayne Jones; grandson, Allen Jones; stepfather, Virgil Waldrop; brothers, James David (J.D) McTaggart, Claude McTaggart, Cecil McTaggart, Cliff McTaggart and Doyle McTaggart; and sister, Betty Hobbs. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 294. Mr. McTaggart worked as a supervisor for The Old Fulton Cotton Mill of Cabbage Town and later retired as supervisor from Mac’s Painting and Decorating in Hiram, GA.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Lula McTaggart of Powder Springs, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Harold Austin & Bernice Jones of Reedsville, NC; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa & David Stell of Powder Springs, GA, and Maudie & Myran Belcher of Taylor, SC; brother, Walt Waldrop of Bay Minette, Al; sisters, Rachel Singleton of Bay Minette, AL, and Becky Thompkins of High Point, NC; grandchildren, Jessica Jones, Talena Honbarger, Melisha Jones and Michael Jones; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2015, at 2 PM, from Clark Funeral Home with Revered Don Rackley officiating. Interment will follow in Paulding Memorial Gardens. Wayne McTaggart, Donnie McTaggart, Kenny Wayne McTaggart, Ronnie Helms, David McTaggart, and Johnny Turner will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, July 2, 2015, from 5 PM until 8 PM.
