Owen Wilkerson Jr.

Freeman Owen Wilkerson, 81, passed away peacefully at home on September 18, 2024 surrounded by his family. Born on May 31, 1943, in Powder Springs, GA, to the late Freeman and Flora Wilkerson, Owen was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. His life was filled with love, generosity, and happy memories.

Owen worked diligently as the Vice President of Wilkerson Packaging Company and was a dedicated member of Clarkdale United Methodist Church. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed simple pleasures, such as spending time at the family lake house on Weiss Lake, fishing, woodworking, refinishing antique furniture, and tending to his backyard garden. He also had a passion for collecting coins and cheering for his favorite sports teams, the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves.

In addition to his parents, Owen was preceded in death by his son, Greg Wilkerson; as well as his brothers, Ronnie and Tim Wilkerson; and his sister, Linda Little.

He is survived by his loving wife, Claudette Wilkerson; son, Randy Wilkerson; daughter, Tammy (Roger) Caldwell; brother, Paul (Wanda) Wilkerson; grandchildren, Josh Caldwell, Zach Caldwell, Cara Yarbrough, Mary Mitchell, Brooke Barrett, and Garrett Wilkerson; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service for Owen will be held in the Sam Clark Chapel of Clark Funeral Home on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Cindy Conner officiating. Immediately following the service, Owen will be laid to rest at Powder Springs City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Owen Willkerson's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. 

Owen will always be remembered and missed by everyone who knew him. May he rest in peace.
