Gary Steven Davenport, 68, of Dallas, Georgia, passed away at his home on February 16th, 2025. He was born on November 29, 1956, in Louisville, Kentucky, to J.C. Davenport and Grace Fow (Fuqua).
He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Deborah K. Davenport, also of Dallas. His legacy continues through his sons, Jeremy C.D. Davenport (Deidre Denner) and Matthew G.S. Davenport, both residing in Dallas, Georgia. He is also survived by his daughters, Lisa M. Clark of Louisville, Kentucky, and Samantha L. Dulaney (Justin) of Palmyra, Indiana. Gary cherished his grandchildren, including A'lia C. Davenport (Samuel Baker) of Acworth, Georgia, and A'rial K. Davenport of Dallas, Georgia. Sierra Clark, Sydney Clark, Michaela DeJaynes, and Isaac DeJaynes, all of Louisville, Kentucky. Becca Atkinson and Adrianna Atkinson of Palmyra, Indiana. He was a proud great-grandfather to Amara, Anays, and Amina Russell of Louisville, Kentucky, and Paiton King of Colorado. Additionally, Gary shared a lifelong friendship with Clifford A. Inlow (Paula) of Louisville, Kentucky. He is also survived by his brother, Michael Davenport, and sister, Janice Saunders, both of Atmore, Alabama.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, J.C. Davenport (1924-1993), as well as his daughters, Gari Stephanie Davenport (1972), Kara Lynn DeJaynes (1977-2020), and son-in-law, Bryan C. Clark (1977-2022).
Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Gary lived in Paola, Kansas, for seven years (1979-1986), where both of his sons were born. He graduated in 1981 from KC Area Vocational Technical School in Graphic Arts. Gary’s professional career included working as a graphic artist at Claud Davis Engraving, specializing in engraving by hand for the printing industry. He was also a passionate musician, performing as a drummer in several local rock/country bands. In 1986 he relocated to Smyrna, Georgia, before moving to Dallas in 1993. With a career spanning over 30 years, Gary was a dedicated graphic artist, engraver, and musician.
In accordance with his wishes, no funeral services will be held. Gary has donated his body to PCOM Georgia Anatomical Donor Services, located in Suwanee, Georgia.
