Gene Garrett Stephens

Gene Stephens, age 88, of Ellijay, GA., passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018. He was born on October 23, 1929 in Mableton, GA., to the late William and Annie Stephens. Mr. Stephens served in the Army and worked for Brinks Security Service. He was a beloved husband, loved to travel and was a member of Leland Masonic Lodge # 12. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Pete and Jack Stephens, and four sisters; Lillian Dickerson, Joann Stephens, Doris Elizabeth, and Duren Stephens.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years; Jeanette Cole of Temple, GA., and his sister, Shirley McKenzie of North Carolina. A number of other relatives are also survived by him.

Funeral services for Mr. Stephens will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 3:00 PM from the Clark Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Walter Malskis officiating. . Interment will follow the funeral service at 4:30 at Barber Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the service begins at 3:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully asks that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Home.
