Lineville

Gordon Lee Meek, age 88, of Lineville, Alabama, passed away on August 15, 2020. He was born on June 6, 1932 in Dallas, GA, to his parents, John Ennis and Inez Carter Meek.

Mr. Meek attended Dallas High School and served in the United States Navy. After discharge, he and his wife lived and worked in Chicago before returning to make their home in Paulding County.

He went on to work as a painter at Lockheed Georgia, retiring after more than twenty years. He later moved with his family to Lineville, Alabama.

Gordon was a quiet man with a happy smile which perfectly fit his Chistian witness. He was a member at Crossroads Full Gospel Church in Dallas, Georgia. He loved the outdoors and a simple life. His knowledge of wildlife and nature came through a lifetime of appreciating God’s creation.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Tom Meek, Robert (Bob) Meek, and Talmadge Meek; and by his sisters, Mary Ann Meek and Dora Dean Meek Gulledge.

Mr. Meek is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley Shepherd Meek; his devoted daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Billy Webb; his brothers, Henry (LaDonna) Meek of Pennsylvania, and Ralph (Janice) Meek of Rockmart; and sister-in-law, Lueverne Meek of Florida, and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Mr. Meek will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Mount Nebo Methodist 11:00 AM with Pastor Ralph Meek officiating.

The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to everyone who will not be able to attend the service in person due to the state’s Covid-19 restrictions.
