Gus Parce McFarland, age 97, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 10, 2021. He was born on January 30, 1924 to his late parents, Mitchell and Alice McFarland. Mr. McFarland was retired from three branches of service: Army, Air Force, and Air National Guard. He served as a Deacon of Union Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Gertrude Stevens; brothers, Lee, Guy, Fred, Marvin, Sam, James, and Frank McFarland. Gus is survived by his brother, Ed McFarland.
Mr. McFarland is survived by his sons, Tommy McFarland and Wayne McFarland, and his daughter Barbara McFarland DeLay. He had 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Gus and four of his brothers fought in Europe in the 2nd World War. He served in the 101st Airborne Division, and fought at Bastogne at the Battle of the Bulge where his division won the Presidential Unit Citation. After the battle of Bastogne and prior to advancing on Eagles Nest, Gus marched in the liberation of Paris parade carrying the flag for the 506th. Eventually his Company B ended the war at Hitler's Eagles Nest in Berchtesgaden, Germany. After the war, he joined the GA Air National Guard at Dobbins Air Force Base in Marietta, GA where he retired TSGT in 1984. He raised his family in Powder Springs, GA, and later had a home in Jasper, GA.
Graveside service for Mr. McFarland will be held at Union Grove Baptist Church in Lithia Springs, GA on Sunday, June 13, 2021, at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Union Grove Baptist Church.
