Harlow Rakestraw Otwell

Harlow Rakestraw Otwell, age 84, of Austell, GA, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Tranquility at Cobb. She was born on June 22, 1935 in Dallas, GA, to the late Virgil Raymond Rakestraw and Kate Kincaid Rakestraw. She was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Dallas. Mrs. Otwell worked for Lockheed prior to working for Mead Packaging as an administrative assistant, from where she retired. In her free time, she loved to spend time with her family and friends. Harlow was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William E. Otwell, her parents, three brothers; Wilbur Rakestraw, Bernarr Rakestraw, Donald Rakestaw, and sister, Mary Rakestraw Shipp.

Survivors include her children; Jeffrey Brown (Karla) of Dallas, GA, Scott Brown (Jill) of Hiram, GA, Jane Ingram (Bobby) of Kennesaw, GA, step-children; Billy Otwell (Becky) of Washington, D.C., Charlotte Payton (David) of Woodstock, GA, sisters; Betty Rakestraw Aiken of Dallas, GA, Linda Faye Rakestraw Strickland (Russell) of Dallas, GA, sister-in-law’s; Doris Rakestraw, Stephanie Rakestraw, grandchildren; Jenny Ingram, Chandler Weeks (Marah) , Molly Brown, Anna Ingram, Lucas Brown, Julia Brown, Alex Otwell (Erin) , Sydney LeFevre (Brad), great grandchildren; Scout LeFevre and Ines Otwell and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Otwell will be held on Friday, September 13, 2019 from the Clark Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM with Rev. Pamela McCurdy officiating. Interment will follow the service at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made to First United Methodist Church of Dallas in Mrs. Otwell’s memory.
