Harold Thomas Dyer, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2023, at the age of 85. Born on July 12, 1938, Harold was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
Harold was a man of many wonderful qualities. He was a devoted husband, taking great care of his wife throughout their years together. Known for his sense of humor, Harold was a jokester and prankster, always bringing laughter and joy to those around him. His daughters, Peggy Hilley, Brenda George, Norma Norton, Sandy King, Jan Simpson, and the late Joyce Hogsed were truly blessed to have such a loving and fun-loving father.
Harold had a fulfilling career as a truck driver, dedicating 42 years to the profession. He retired at the age of 72, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. In his free time, he had a deep love for football and baseball, especially for the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves.
Harold is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Dyer, his daughter, Joyce Hogsed and his parents Olin and Vera Dyer.
Harold is lovingly survived by his daughters, Jan Simpson, Norma Norton, Peggy Hilley, Brenda George, and Sandy (Terry) King. He is also survived by his sister-in-laws, Pat Rowe, Bobbie Luther, Dorthea Dyer, son-in-law, Bobby Hogsed as well as his 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
To honor his memory, a visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Clark Funeral Home from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Clark Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 11:00 am with Jamie Hilley and Bobby Wilkerson officiating. Immediately following the service, Harold will be laid to rest at Star of Bethlehem Cemetery with Allen Davis, Bobby Hogsed, Matthew Hogsed, Dwayne Hicks, Barry Owens, Corey Vaughn, Chris Hutcheson, and Noah Owens serving as pallbearers.
Harold's passing has left a void in the hearts of his family and friends. His presence will be deeply missed, but his loving spirit will live on in the memories and stories shared by those who were fortunate to know him.
