Herman Lincoln Atkins, age 86, of Dallas, GA, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016. He was born on June 4, 1930, in Cedartown, GA, to the late Lonnie & Jessie Mae Atkins, and was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Atkins; daughter, Frieda Atkins Wills; brothers, Willard Atkins, Lloyd Atkins and Gene Atkins; sisters, Ruby Bell and Elizabeth Stewart. Mr. Atkins was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean War, and retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service. Herman was a member and manager of the American Legion Post 111 and raised the flag at Paulding County High School for 20 years
Survivors include his daughter, Cindy & Mark Hoptroff of Dallas, GA; grandchild, Jeffrey Hoptroff of Atlanta, GA; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at 3 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Tony Samples and Pastor Randy Atkins officiating. Interment will follow in Paulding Memorial Gardens. Buck Atkins, James Bell, Dennis Stewart, Randy Atkins, Dan Stewart, Chris McAdams and Gene Mullinax will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, from 5 PM until 8 PM.
