James A. Moss

James A. Moss, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the age of 82. He was born on August 29, 1942, in Jasper, Georgia, and spent his life dedicated to his family, community, and service.

James proudly served in the Army and later became a devoted letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring after 34 years of exceptional service. Following his retirement, he channeled his passion for craftsmanship into founding J.A.M., his own home improvement construction company, where he took great joy in helping enhance the homes of those in his community.

A man of deep faith, James was an active member of The Grove Church, where he found fulfillment in serving the congregation's youth. His warmth and kindness profoundly impacted the lives of many children, and he cherished the time spent guiding and nurturing them.

James's love for his family was immeasurable. He is survived by his devoted wife, Peggy Barfield Moss, and a legacy of love through his children: Teresa Nelson, Dawn Carroll Newsome (Neal Carroll), and Corey Wilson (Jolyn). His beloved grandchildren will dearly miss him: Jessica Nelson, Joshua Nelson, Jasmine Kessinger (Drew), Kayla Blair (Garrett), and Lindsie Wilson. Several nieces and nephews also survive James. He was preceded in death by his parents, E.J. and Hattie Moss, and grandson, Tony Carroll.

Friends and family are invited to gather to remember James at a visitation on Thursday, January 30, 2025,5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Clark Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated during a funeral service at The Grove Church,1605 Mars Hill Road Acworth, GA 30101, on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 2:00 pm with Pastor Dallas White officiating. James will lie in state at the church beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family encourages all who knew him to join them in honoring a well-lived life and a generous heart by considering a donation in his memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital at stjude.org.

In this time of sorrow, may we all find comfort in the joyful memories of James A. Moss, a man whose legacy of love and service will continue to inspire us all.
