James (Jimmy) E. Arnold, age 65, of Franklin, GA, formerly of Marietta, GA, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2008. He was born May 30, 1943, in Lexington, KY, moved to Atlanta, GA in grade school and graduated from Sprayberry High School in 1961. He raced cars at Dixie Speedway from 1965-1985. Mr. Arnold owned and operated Marietta Automotive Specialist in Smyrna until he retired to Franklin, GA and bought a horse ranch, where he trained and raised quarter horses. He was past president and member of the Heard County Cattleman’s Association, a member of the American Quarter Horse Association since 1988, the American Paint Horse Association, and the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame Association.
Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by his father, James Ewing Arnold, Sr., mother, Ruth Samuels Arnold, and sister, Carolyn Thompson.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Arnold; daughters & sons-in-law, DeeDee & Buck Benton of Cartersville and Debbie & Jim McCloud of Powder Springs; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and great friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 26, 2008, at 2:00pm, from Clark Funeral Home, with Pastor Mark Henry officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pat Arnold Assistance Fund at any Bank of America location.
