James C. Elsberry, age 80, of Dallas, GA, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013. He was born March 18, 1932, in Dallas, GA and was preceded in death by his parents, Ben Zeb Elsberry & Lillie Mae Carruth Elsberry; daughter, Deborah Lynn Elsberry; brothers and sisters, W. A., Doyal, Ivy, Louise, Lewis and Marvin. Mr. Elsberry owned the Dallas Standard Service Station for many years, was a City Councilman for the city of Dallas, and a volunteer firefighter for the city of Dallas. He retired as a Colonel for the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, after 20 years of service and was a member of Narroway Baptist Church, where he was an inactive deacon.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Beverly Elsberry; son & daughter-in-law, Tony & Nancy Elsberry of Dallas, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Sherrie & Mike Tibbitts of Dallas, GA; brother & sister-in-law, Howell & Burma Elsberry of Temple, GA; sisters, Mattie Lee Gulledge of Dallas, GA and Mary Morris of Dallas, GA; grandchildren, Melanie Thompson (Gary), Tracy Wilkins (Jay), Jon Tibbitts (Jodi), Jennifer Gates (Lindsey), Amy Pippin (Andy) and Kristen Mullinax (Mark); great-grandchildren, Ansleigh McFarland, Brice Wilkins, Baleigh Tibbitts, Brendan Gates, Kate Wilkins, Cole Palmer, Taryn Tibbitts, Kyla Mullinax, Isaac Mullinax, Conner Gates and Adalynn Thompson; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 2:00 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Jimmy Tibbitts officiating. Interment will follow in the Cole Family Cemetery, with Gary Morris, Greg Elsberry, Blake Elsberry, Andy Gulledge, Steve Elsberry and Russell Crone, serving as pallbearers. Members of the Paulding County Sheriff’s Department and the Paulding County Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home, on Friday, February 1, 2013, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
