Jane Shelkett

Jane Wix Shelkett, 67, died peacefully on Sunday November 13, 2011 after complications from heart surgery. Jane graduated from South Cobb High School and attended Mercer University and University of West Georgia. She was on the cutting edge of female owned companies when she formed Jane Wix Enterprises in the late 60’s and operated her own airfreight company for many years. Jane was a natural born musician and could play several musical instruments. She especially loved playing her accordion and her “Baby Grand” piano.

She is survived by her sons, Jeff and Rita Linch of Flower Mound Tx; E. Berkley Shelkett III of Marietta Ga.; daughter, Stacey and Shane Stanley of Ellijay, Ga.; brother, Don Wix of Mableton, Ga.; sister-in-law, Linda Wix of Smyrna; grandchildren, Rachel, Ashley, John , Seth, and Spencer; and a number of nieces and nephews . Jane was preceded in death by her parents Rev. and Mrs. J Edwin Wix of Dallas, Ga., her husband Berkley Shelkett, and her brother Benson Wix .

Visitation will be from 11am until 3pm, on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at Clark Funeral Home in Hiram. A funeral service will follow at 3pm in the Chapel with Dr. Milton Dwelle and Pastor Michael C. Crawford officiating. Interment will follow in Paulding Memorial Gardens.
