Jo Ellen Allen, age 58, of Dallas, GA, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013. She was born November 11, 1954, in Chamblee, GA, and was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Britt; her mother, Mildred Henderson Long; and step-dad, Aaron Long, who raised her from age 13. Mrs. Allen was a member of Riverside Church of God and was a 1972 graduate of Stone Mountain High School. She worked for the Cobb County School System for 23 years, was currently a para-professional for Smitha Middle School in Powder Springs, and enjoyed her job with the school working with the handicapped. Mrs. Allen always helped her step-sons, John Jr. and Chris, and cared for them very much. She loved her animals and plants and will be well remembered for her warrior spirit, her easy laugh, her sweet smile and her loving ways.
Survivors include her husband of almost 33 years, Tony Allen; step-sons, John Allen, Jr. of Dallas, GA and Chris Allen of Dallas, GA; brother, Jonathan Long of Atlanta, GA; sister, Joyce Ledbetter of Conyers, GA; step-brother, David Long (Kathy) of Lilburn, GA; nieces and nephews; best friend, Ronda Hiemstra; dog, Murphy; and cats, Snuggims and Terrance.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 3:00 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Thomas Blagg officiating. Interment will follow in Paulding Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, March 2, 2013, from 1:00 PM until the service time.
