Joe Williams

Coach Joe Williams, age 81, of Dallas, GA, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011. He was born in Marietta, GA, December 29, 1929, and was preceded in death by his parents, Earl DeWitt Williams & Willie Mae Williams and a sister, Tattie Mae Williams Roan. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and attended Marion Military Institution. Coach Williams graduated from Auburn University, where he majored in science and education. He then was a teacher and coached football at both Westminister High School and Paulding County High School. Coach Williams did a lot of work with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marietta.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Linda Atcheson Williams; daughter & son-in-law, Julie Elizabeth Camp & husband, Edward Lane Camp of Dallas, GA; and sister & brother-in-law, Peggy Emma Williams Callaway & Reverend Brantley Mercer Callaway of Dallas, GA.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2011, at 3:00 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Brantley Callaway officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, December 3, 2011, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
