John Paul Combs

John "Paul" Combs passed away on December 25, 2022. He was born on September 24, 1941 to the late John Scott and Alice Begley Combs. John was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He diligently studied the Bible and had much of it memorized. He graduated from the University of Georgia with his Education Specialist degree and was a teacher for many years at different schools. He also taught Sunday school for several years. Since being an alumni from UGA, John became a huge fan of Georgia Bulldog football. He always wore his cap and was proud of his university. He had a private life but deeply loved his wife, sons, siblings, and grandchildren. He always put them first and John will be very missed.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his brothers, Harrison Combs, Victor Combs, Devaughn Combs, Robert Combs; sisters, Geneva Thomas, June Earls, Shelby Qualls, and Jean Ridenhour. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia Combs; his sons, John Paul Scott Combs and Adam Joshua Combs; John Paul's wife, Alicia Fae Combs; brother, Phillip Combs; sister, Elinore Downey, grandchildren, Mariah Candence Combs, Isaiah Emerson Combs, Violet Olivia Combs; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. Funeral services for Mr. Combs will be held at Clark Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, December 30, 2022 beginning at 11:00am with Dr. Wayne Meadows and Reverend Butch Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Paulding Memorial Gardens.
