Joseph Carroll Hitchcock passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 2, 1947, to the late Luther and Frances Powell Hitchcock in Atlanta, GA. He Retired after over 15 years from Brinks Armored Car service. Joe enjoyed life. He was always willing to lend a hand and was one of the most kind hearted people you could meet. He loved music, especially Elvis, laughing, telling corny jokes, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved the Lord, and took pride in serving Temple Baptist Church.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, brother; Edward Powell Hitchcock, brother in law; Bobby Jean Brinkley, and niece; Sandra Brinkley.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Julia Hitchcock, brother-in-laws; Phillip (Jane) Brinkley, Alvie (Alice) Brinkley, sister-in-laws; Barbara Hitchcock, Lynda (Donald) Poole, nieces; Allison (Joe) Stitt, Kristi (Drew) Nichols, Carol (Brian) Hawk, Kim (Gary) Teesateskie, Angela Arne, Tracy (David) Wilson, Theresa (Jerome) Howard, Tammy (Eric) Bailey, Susan Brinkley nephews; Phil (Maria) Brinkley, AJ (Cindy) Brinkley, Marc Hitchcock, and a host of great nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Monday, April 24, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Service for Joe will be held at Clark Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Eric Bailey officiating. Joe will be laid to rest at Midway Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Marietta, GA, immediately following the service with Brian Hawk, Gary Teesateskie, Matt Brinkley, Phil Brinkley, AJ Brinkley, Casey Brinkley, Matt Bailey serving as pallbearers and Joe's special friend Kyle Podunovac serving as Honorary Pallbearer.
