J.T. Cochran, age 89, of Dallas, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2011. He was born on January 5, 1922, in Dallas, GA, to the late Marshall and Addie Cochran, and was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Belle Cochran; sisters, Nola Rakestraw and Hazel Rakestraw; brothers, Laymon Cochran and Loyd Cochran. Mr. Cochran was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, and retired after 36 years with the City of Dallas Maintenance Department as a utility superintendent.
Survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, T.C. & Joan Cochran of Centre, Al; daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie & Dan Jones of Kennesaw, and Swannie & Robert Carter of Douglasville; brother and sister-in-law, Martin & Norma Cochran of Dallas; sister and brother-in-law, Monnie & Billy Rainwater of Dallas; brother-in-law, Jake Rakestraw of Dallas; sister-in-laws, Christine Young of Dallas, and Ruth Cochran of Dallas; grandchildren, Cathy Funk, Ritchie Carter, Tobey Cochran, Kathy Berry and Stacey Durden; great-grandchildren, Jeremy Mitchell, Ashley Funk, Megan Carter, Courtney Carter, Tyler Cochran, Chase Cochran, Deana Durden, and Shelby Durden; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 8, 2011, at 3 p.m., from Clark Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend John Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Dallas Memory Gardens. Dwayne Cochran, David Rakestraw, Craig Rainwater, Tobey Cochran, Ritchie Carter and Jeremy Mitchell will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, August 7, 2011, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
