Karen Sue Tibbitts Proctor,63, devoted wife, mother, Nan, and sister received her Heavenly reward while surrounded by her family on Dec 1, 2024. Karen was born to the late Joe and Ann Tibbitts of Dallas, Georgia on October 19, 1961. What a day that was! Not only was Karen born on this day, she was a twin, and they were born on Ann’s birthday!
On July 1, 1978, Karen married the love of her life, Lee Proctor. Together they made a life in the Burnt Hickory Community. In 1981, Karen and Lee were blessed with their daughter, Amanda.
Karen spent many years working with children from babysitting in her home, to being a paraprofessional at Dallas Elementary, and later teaching Pre-K at Stop N’Go Daycare and Lost Mountain Academy. Her sweet spirit and love for others impacted the lives of many children and adults. In 2003, she began a new career at Ragsdale Heating and Air where her calm demeanor and grace under pressure gave a whole new meaning to “customer service.” She quickly became the voice of Ragsdale by appearing in several of their commercials.
Karen was a devoted member of Narroway Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and proudly walked in faith. “God is good all the time, and all the time God is good.” was a favorite saying of Karen’s. She loved singing for the Lord and sharing her faith with others. As a devoted Sunday School Teacher, she enjoyed helping children learn and grow in their faith.
Karen’s smile lit up every room she entered and was typically accompanied by a laugh that felt like a warm hug. When you met Karen, you felt like you had known her forever. She had a way of showing love, appreciation and grace to all she met.
Lee, Amanda, William, and Anna were the lights of her life. She loved being a wife and mother; however, she delighted in being Anna’s Nan. Karen and Anna shared many special memories of singing together, telling stories, and playing in Nan’s makeup.
Karen’s love and memory will live on in her family, her husband Lee Proctor, Daughter Amanda Gossett (William), Granddaughter Anna. Her sisters Sherry Barber (Wayne), Sharon Morgan (Dean), and Sevelda Crumpton (Buster). And her many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Clark Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Karen’s services will be held at Narroway Baptist Church on Thursday, December 5th, 2024, at 12:00 pm, with Rev. Josh Rakestraw, Rev. Todd Tibbitts, and Rev. Hershel TIbbitts officiating.
Her nephews Russ Tibbitts, Jason Barber, John Rakestraw, Jody Barber, Jake Rakestraw, and Scott Proctor will be pallbearers with Art Ragsdale and Robby Williams being honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Karen’s memory to the Narroway Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Attn: Joan Rattaree 102 Corley Rd, Dallas, GA 30132, or the Children's Hospital of your choice.
Karen was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Joe and Ann Tibbitts; and her brother Wayne Tibbitts. As well as her loving in-laws Tommie and Dot Proctor; and brother-in-law Steve Proctor.
