Katie Benson

Katie C. Benson, age 78, of Dallas, GA, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2015. She was born on May 10, 1937, in Temple, GA, to the late Lee & Jewell Bolden, and was preceded in death by her sisters, Clara Cochran, Vernell Reece, Ruth Jordan, Dorothy Cox and Lillian Crew. Katie loved her family and loved taking care of them. She enjoyed basketball, softball, cooking and eating. Ms. Benson retired from Paulding County School System as a School Bus Driver after 45 years of service and was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.

Survivors include children, Gail & Tony Stegall of Dallas, GA, Wayne & Lisa Benson of Dallas, GA, and Jeff and Bridget Benson of Dallas, GA; sisters, Maddlain Smith of Dallas, GA, Rose Reeves of Carrollton, GA, and Dale Hurley of Dallas, GA; grandchildren, Tina Rutledge, Tara and Jeff Hollis, Angelia Benson, Kreed Benson, Patricia Lanzo, Rose Lanzo, Shea & Barry Keown, Jeff & Lisa Stegall, and Dutch Matthews; great-grandchildren, Cody Hollis, Morgan Hollis, Kayla Hollis, Jay Wood, Shaylin Upton, Gage Crawford, Gatlin Keown, Grayson Keown, Chris Stegall, Jessica Stegall, and Dakota Matthews; many nieces and nephews; and former husband of 34 years, Floyd Benson of Dallas, GA.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at 2 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Todd Tibbitts, Reverend Thomas Cole, and Reverend Jimmy Tibbitts officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery. Kreed Benson, Cody Hollis, Jay Wood, Jeff Hollis, Barry Keown and Gage Crawford will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, from 4 PM until 8 PM.
