Kelly D. Carter, age 64, of Dallas, GA, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2011. He was born on May 15, 1947 in Dallas, Georgia to Myrtle Carter and the late Clarence “Buck” Carter. He graduated in 1965 from Dallas High School and worked for Sears in Atlanta for 23 years. Mr. Carter was a City Councilman for the City of Dallas for 22 years and a volunteer fireman for the City of Dallas for many years. He was a member and deacon of the Second Baptist Church of Dallas and was a wonderful Poppa to his grandson, Cortland.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Theresa Carter; his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher B. and Anna Carter of Dallas; his mother, Myrtle Carter of Dallas; a sister, Deborah Carter of Dallas; grandson, Cortland B. Carter of Dallas; a cousin, Cecil Butler of Dallas; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. from Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, GA with Mr. James G. Hammons and Mayor Boyd Austin officiating. The interment will follow in Dallas Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
