Larry Despain

With sadness, the family announces the passing of Larry DeSpain, who died of natural causes on October 17, 2024 in Marietta, Georgia.

Larry was born on December 14, 1941, in Washington, Georgia, and resided in Kennesaw, Georgia for most of his life. A hard-working man, Larry started with the Postal Service before spending the majority of his career working for BellSouth, with a brief stint as a driver for Metro Ambulance Service in the early 1970's. His fascination with electronics at a young age led him to a life-long hobby, including building his own computers and electronic devices.

Larry is survived by his brother Andrew DeSpain (Cindy), sons Chris DeSpain (Lisa) and Scott DeSpain (Tracy), granddaughters Amber Tierney (Austin) and Casey DeSpain (Zane), and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife Virginia Gayle DeSpain, of Chickamauga, Georgia and parents Newell and Sarah DeSpain.

Larry will always be remembered for his love of Westerns, electronics, trains, and Mexican food. His unique sense of humor will be missed by many. May he rest in peace, knowing his friends and family will remember him fondly.

In accordance with Larry's wishes, he was cremated and his ashes will be spread where he was happiest.
