Larry Tillman

September 12, 1960 — November 24, 2024

Larry Willis Tillman, II, a construction contractor of Powder Springs, Georgia, met our gracious God on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at the age of 64.

Larry was surrounded by his family on November 24, 2024, when he finally succumbed to his injuries from his fall in December of 2021 and the return of cancer in October of 2022.

Larry was born September 12, 1960, in Mobile, Alabama, to Larry and Betty Tillman. He met Brenda in his hometown of Citronelle, Alabama, in the spring of 1982, while she worked in a grocery store with his brother Tony. It took Larry a while to get Brenda to date him, but once they started dating, it didn't take them long to tie the knot in the fall of 1982. Together, they moved to Atlanta where Larry worked to build his construction business and eventually settled down in Powder Springs in 1997, while continuing to grow the family business until December 16, 2021.

His highest priority was his family, he worked hard to ensure everyone was taken care of and had everything they needed. Larry's children think fondly of him as a devoted and loving father. Ashley Nichole was born first in June, then Little Larry came along six years later of the same month. He was so happy when he became a Papaw in 2011, and it spiraled down the line. Even while taking chemo for colon cancer beginning in 2018, until ringing the bell to signify his remission in 2019, he continued to work hard to keep his normal daily life the same.

In earlier years, he had quite the collection of classic cars and was a member of the Powder Springs Push Rods. At one point, he only had a two car garage, but made his 1973 Camaro, 1970 Mustang, 1977 Trans Am and a red Corvette fit. There were other cars and trucks that he owned through the years, but his favorite of all was always a Corvette. He also enjoyed fishing and enjoyed visiting Dauphin Island for a number of years, where his parents lived.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry Willis (2014) and Betty Jean Tillman (2020); brother, Damon Brent (1999); sister-in-law, Ava Lee (2018); grandparents, Willis (1991) and Alice Tillman (1987); William (1996) and Lorraine Sawyer (1996).

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Brenda Hamilton Tillman; his children, Ashley along with her husband, Cory and their two children, Brody and Charlie Ruth; Larry Willis, III "Little Larry" and his fiancé, Chelsea along with their children, Bella, Eliza, Jake, Bryson and Caysen. Larry's siblings, William Anthony "Tony" and his wife Becky, children and grandchildren; Gary Doss, his wife Cindy, children and grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Clark Funeral Home on Sunday, December 8, 2024, between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. A celebration of life will follow at 4:00 p.m. in the Sam Clark Chapel with Preacher George Hill officiating.

Dad, you will always be in our hearts and we know that you are in Heaven watching over all of us. Our family had so much love and laughter throughout the years because of you.

We love you,                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Ashley
