LaVonna Castle

April 23, 1940 — March 5, 2025

LaVonna LaRee Castle, 84, of Douglasville, GA, passed away on March 5th, 2025. She was born on April 23, 1940 in between Broken Bow and Callaway, Nebraska in an old farm house to parents Raymond and Edith Link. Lavonna spent the majority of her years living in Nebraska and ultimately migrated to Georgia around 2000. She worked as a book-keeper for a doctor and later for a bank in North Platte. She has always had a passion for ministry. Russ and Lavonna met as she was teaching Sunday school. Over the years Russ and Lavonna have had people into their home for regular Bible studies and get togethers. Most recently Lavonna and Russ had a small group at Hearts on Fire Church in Powder Springs, GA. She had a real love for people and was just amazing with knowing who needed one of her hugs. Lavonna was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Lavonna loved her family well and never missed a Birthday, Christmas, Anniversary or Valentine's day.

Lavonna was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Edith Link.

Lavonna is survived by her brothers, Gerry (Dale) Link, Larry (Marcia) Link, Craig (Linda) Link and sister, Doris Engle.

Her husband, Russ Castle, son, Jeff (Kim) Castle, daughters, Joan (Rosemarie) Castle, Janine (Kent) Edwards and son, Jim (Kealei) Castle.

11 Grandchildren, Jenna, Jayne, Judson, Josh, Crystal, Zach, Jordan, Luke, Kaila, Brittany and Kaitlyn.

20 Great grandchildren, Sylvie, Caroline, Jackson, Collin, Joao Marcos, Julia, Ana, Solomon, Psalm, Ava, Fitz, Heidi, Gia, Lively, Harlow, Callahan, Ronnie Rae, Revyn, Remi and Jaxon.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM. A celebration of life will be held from the Sam Clark Chapel of Clark Funeral Home on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at 5:00 PM with Pastor Jim Castle officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to Hearts on Fire Church Building Fund. You can donate online by visiting Hearts on Fire-Give or by mailing to 4010 Fambrough Drive, Powder Springs, GA 30127.
