Leonard R. Portwood, 94, of Powder Springs, GA passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Tranquility at Cobb. He was born in Carrollton on November 19, 1926 to the late Samuel Claude Portwood and Hattie Jane Flowler Portwood. Mr. Portwood was a family man and an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an Army Veteran and a member of The American Legion Post 264 where he recently received his 50-year pin. He owned and operated Portwood Grading for 62 years.

He is survived by his wife of 77 years, Frances Gann Portwood; one daughter-in-law, Louann Portwood; two grandchildren, Nicky (Sharon) Portwood and Donny (Wendy) Portwood; ten great-grandchildren Andrew, Brandon, Matt, Kiersten, Brantley, Connor, Caleb, Brianna, Bryce, Brynn; and one great-great grandchild, Oaklynn.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Portwood was preceded in death by his three brothers; five sisters; sons, Randall Portwood, Tony Portwood, and Barry Portwood; and one grandchild, Rebecca Portwood.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 23, at 2:00 p.m. at Temperance Cemetery on GA-61 in Carrollton. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral home on Tuesday, March 23 from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Legion, Post 264, https://www.members.legion.org/tal/donatenow#centennial-header.

The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to everyone who may be unable to attend the service in person due to the states Covid-19 concerns or state restrictions (no more than 50 people inside the funeral home at one time). If attending the visitation or service, the staff of Clark Funeral Home highly recommends that a face mask be worn and that social distancing be practiced to help prevent the spreading of any possible illnesses and to help keep visitors, friends and family members of Mr. Portwood safe.
