Leroy Campbell, age 97 of Brooklyn, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at his residence. Mr. Campbell was born in Norfolk, VA on May 30, 1924. He worked as a postal carrier for the USPS for more than 30 years then became a supervisor. He moved to Brooklyn, NY in 1940 and was a lifelong Brooklynite until he and his wife moved to Hiram, GA in 2010 to be with his daughter and grandson. Leroy married his loving wife, Barbara Campbell, on January 1, 1956, in Brooklyn, NY. He was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY and sang in the men’s choir, he will be known by his family and friends as an avid NY Mets fan. His family describes him as a loving husband and a dedicated father and grandfather. In addition to his mother, Ada Sherrod, he is preceded in death by his sister, Vera Waddell.
Leroy is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara; daughter, Darlene Campbell; son, Dale Campbell; grandchildren, Kevin Smith, and Jared Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services for Mr. Campbell will be held at Clark Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 18, 2021, at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 until the time of service.
